On the water

Local yacht clubs have a long tradition of cooperation and organizing international regattas. Finnish Yacht Clubs have hosted five successful 8mR World Championships. We have a dedicated group of volunteers, experienced race officials, and suitable vessels for committees and mark laying, alongside spectators and media—many with as much history as the yachts racing on the track.l

Sailing in Finland

Since the 1910s, 8mR yachts have been central to Finland's sailing culture, holding the world record for 8mR's per capita. With nine active racing yachts, the busy regatta season invites everyone to participate in local races before and after the main events. Experience the excitement of Finnish sailing!

The venue

Ruissalon Telakka

The historic boatyard (1899-1954) has built over 5,000 boats, including 8mR yachts. Today the boatyard functions as a marina combined with an event centre with multiple restaurants, cafés and even a theater. The boatyard, its staff and partners are used to catering to unique wooden yachts as well as creating memorable experiences for visitors and guests.
