Catina VI

taken from the Lindau 2006 program

For Catina VI the 2006 World Cup is like going home. This famous and beautiful 8-Metre was commissioned by Enrico Pozzani for the Olympics in 1936. Beltrami went to Germany to study the waters around Kiel and spent weeks with Henry Rasmussen at his yard. Beltrami´s goal was to build a winner for medium to heavy airs, but in the light weather trials in Italy Catina VI was outperformed by Italia. Catina VI and IEMA president Fred Meyer are one. She is a classic example of a perfect vintage 8-Metre, impeccably maintained and sailed hard by a crew of family and friends.

In the Geneva Worldcup of 2022 during the jubilee celebrating the SNG’s 150th anniversary Freds son Axel will skipper their amazingly beautiful eight metre yacht Catina VI
